• 태초에: 대부분의 번역에서 in the beginning.
• 혼돈: formless 또는 without form. 한국어로는 '혼돈'이 어떤 의미인지 애매한 느낌이나 영어로는 '형태가 없는'이라고 표현하여 더 명확하게 와닿음.
• 공허: empty 또는 void. NLT, NIV에서는 empty라는 단어를 나머지 번역에서는 좀 더 생소한 void라는 단어로 표현
• 흑암: darkness.
• 깊음 위에 있었다: covered the deep water, was over(또는 upon) the surface(또는 face) of the deep로 표현.
• ~에 운행하시니라: was hovering over라고 대부분 표현했으나 KJV에서는 moved upon이라고 표현. hover는 '맴돌다, 떠다니다'라는 뜻이 있음.
• 수면: the surface(또는 face) of the waters, the waters이라고 표현.
• 하나님의 신: the Sprit of God. 하나님의 영.
• 빛이 있으라: let there be light.

창세기 1장에서는 천지창조에 대해서 읽을 수 있습니다. 하나님을 알기 전 우리 마음 상태와 같다고 할 수 있어요. 혼돈과 공허와 흑암. 하지만 하나님께서는 우리 마음 안에 하나님의 역사를 시작하고 싶어 하십니다. 빛 되신 예수님을 우리 마음에 영접하면 가능한 일이라고 생각합니다. 우리 마음 상태와 심령이 '하나님 보시기에 좋았더라'가 된다면 아름답겠지요.
